Magazine Pro by StudioPress

The Magazine Pro theme from StudioPress is an HTML5-compliant, mobile responsive design with a widgetized home page. It’s a refresh of the original Magazine theme, which lacked the media queries to adjust the display for different mobile devices.

In December 2018, StudioPress updated the theme to include block editor enhancements.

Magazine Pro keeps most of the features of its predecessor but drops 2 widget areas (one on the home page and the After Content Ad widget area). It also drops 3 color styles and support for custom backgrounds.

Introduced on 10/28/13, Magazine Pro is a 3 column theme with 6 layout options. The theme includes a landing page template and support for 4 color styles (blue, green, orange, and red – the default). The color styles are shown on our demo by making use of custom body classes. Beyond the WordPress standards of custom menus and threaded comments, Magazine Pro also supports custom headers and Google web fonts (specifically Roboto and Raleway). These fonts and weights add about 146 Kb to the site’s page weight, which is a lot for typography.
