The Monochrome Pro theme from StudioPress is a minimalist HTML5-compliant, accessibility ready, mobile responsive theme with a widgetized home page. The theme includes styles and scripts for WooCommerce, the popular e-commerce plugin.
In December 2018, StudioPress updated the theme to include block editor enhancements.
The home page is divided into 5 widgetized stripes (Front Page 1 – 4 and Before Footer CTA widget areas). Some – but not all – of the widgetized stripes support flexible layout configurations where the layout of the widget area is based on the number of widgets used in that area. For example, a single widget is full width while 4 widgets are divided into 2 rows with an unequal number of columns. The screenshot below illustrates how flexible widgets are distributed across different widget areas. Note that every row doesn’t contain the same number of widgets, even though the overall width of each row is the same.
Here is the configuration that applies to the Front Page 1 – 4 widget areas:
Monochrome Pro supports a fixed, full width background image on the Front Page 1 and Front Page 3 widget areas. The background images are managed via the customizer. The images on our demo site are 1600 x 800 px.
The theme uses 2 custom image sizes:
- front-blog = 960 x 540 px
- sidebar-thumbnail = 80 x 80 px
Monochrome Pro also includes code and scripts that change the layout or add features, including:
- reducing the secondary navigation to a single level
- moving the secondary navigation to the footer and renaming it
- adding the option to include a search icon in the primary navigation
- adding support for ionicons
Introduced on 5/10/17, Monochrome Pro is a 2 column theme with 3 layout options. Three of the 6 standard Genesis layout options have been removed to simplify content creation. The theme includes landing and pricing page templates. Beyond the WordPress standards of custom menus and threaded comments, the Monochrome Pro theme also supports a custom header and a mobile specific menu.
Monochrome Pro also supports Google web fonts (specifically Muli and Open Sans Condensed).
