The Expose Pro theme from StudioPress is a blog-style theme that makes it easy to display images. It’s the HTML5-compliant refresh of Expose theme.
Like its predecessor, Expose Pro is designed to showcase images. It features a 960 pixel wide content area on all pages, which is wider than one would observe on a site with widget areas or sidebars. Expose Pro will automatically grab the Gravatar image associated with your admin email address, so you’ll want to be sure to load a great image if you plan to use this theme.
One distinctive theme feature that generates a lot of feedback is the hidden menu. Expose Pro doesn’t display its primary navigation menu until you scroll down at least 100 pixels. Then, javascript kicks in to display the menu. That keeps a visitor’s initial view of your home page uncluttered, but it can be disconcerting to a visitor who arrives looking for your contact form, which might be linked on your menu, and doesn’t see it. Be sure that little wrinkle fits with your plans for how you want visitors to experience your site. Update: “disconcerting” won out over “distinctive.” In the 2014 update, the hidden feature of the sticky menu was dropped from the theme. Now, the menu is just fixed at the top of the site.
Introduced on 9/9/13 and updated in 2014, Expose Pro is a 1 column theme with just a single, full-width layout option. Five of the 6 standard Genesis layout options have been removed to simplify content creation. The theme includes a landing page template and support for 5 color styles (blue, green, pink, teal, orange – the default). Beyond the WordPress standards of custom menus and threaded comments, Expose Pro also supports custom headers, custom backgrounds, and Google web fonts. The selected fonts and weights add about 153 Kb to the site’s page weight, which is a lot for typography.
