The Executive 2 theme from StudioPress has been refreshed with a mobile responsive design and the addition of portfolio and landing page templates. We’ve kept the original Executive theme available and added the updated design under the name of Executive 2.
But the updates keep coming, so before activating this theme on a new site, be sure to checkout the Executive Pro theme, featuring HTML5 compliant markup and archive settings for the portfolio custom post type.
The Executive 2 theme features a widgetized home page that that will display a standard loop of posts if no widgets are used.
Updated on 10/25/12, Executive 2 is a 2 column theme with 3 layout options and 7 color styles (the default blue, brown, green, orange, purple, red, and teal). Three of the 6 standard Genesis page templates have been removed to simplify content creation. Beyond the WordPress standards of custom menus and threaded comments, Executive 2 also supports custom headers, custom backgrounds, and Google web fonts (specifically, Open Sans). The selected font adds about 22 Kb to the site’s page weight, which is a very modest contribution for typography.
The Executive 2 theme has a total of 9 widget areas, 3 of which are footer widgets that divide the page into equal parts.
