Atmosphere Pro by StudioPress

The Atmosphere Pro theme from StudioPress is an HTML5-compliant, accessibility ready, mobile responsive theme with a widgetized home page.

The home page is divided into 4 widgetized stripes, and the front page and background images can be customized via the WordPress theme customizer. The Backstretch script is used to resize the images. You can also specify the accent color for links, post titles, menu items, button hovers, and the footer background color.

We’ve created a custom version of the theme, which we call Atmosphere Pro Slider. Our Atmosphere Pro Slider allows you to specify up to 3 front page images for the background of the Front Page 1 widget area. If you specify 2 or 3 images, they’re presented in a slideshow where each slide is visible for 6 seconds with a 1.5 second fade in. With only 1 image specified, Atmosphere Pro Slider behaves just like the original. Our demo, linked below, shows the slider effect in Atmosphere Pro Slider.

The screenshot below illustrates how some home page widget areas are presented based on the number of widgets placed into those widget areas. Note that every row doesn’t contain the same number of widgets, even though the overall width of each row is the same. In the unlikely event you place more than 9 widgets into a single widget area, each will use about 1/3 of the maximum width. The widget layout in the screenshot only applies to widgets in the Front Page 2 and Front Page 4 areas; the other widget areas are full width.

Atmosphere Pro also includes code and scripts that add features, including:

• reducing the secondary navigation to a single level
• removing the entry meta (such as tags and categories) on the front page and archives
• adding support for the icon font ionicons
• adding support for using a custom field of large_title to customize entry titles
• adding support for animated scrolling

Introduced on 10/28/15, Atmosphere Pro is a 1 column theme with a single full-width layout option. Five of the 6 standard Genesis layout options have been removed to simplify content creation. The theme includes a landing page template. Beyond the WordPress standards of custom menus and threaded comments, the Atmosphere Pro theme also supports custom headers and a mobile specific menu.

Atmosphere Pro also supports Google web fonts (specifically Lato).

We’ve got a live demo of our Atmosphere Pro Slider theme that shows off its basic features. Except for the use of 3 background slides on the Front Page 1 widget area, the look is identical to the original Atmosphere Pro.
