The Agency Pro theme from StudioPress is a fresh take on a reliable standard. It adds HTML5-compliant, mobile responsive design features to one of the most popular StudioPress themes: Agency.
Agency Pro keeps the widgetized home page of its predecessor but drops 2 home page widget areas. It adds 1 more color style and support for the Backstretch background image script. Of all the changes, the home page hover styles are likely to attract the most attention.
When featured posts are placed into the Home Middle widget area, the entire post is included in the hover state, as opposed to just the post title or image. Both the post image and the post content occupy the same space on the page, but only the image is visible; when a visitor hovers over the image, its opacity is lowered, allowing the post content to come into view. It’s an eye-catching effect that gives Agency Pro a more sophisticated feel compared to earlier versions.
Introduced on 10/9/13 and updated in 2014, Agency Pro is a 3 column theme with 6 layout options. The theme includes a landing page template and support for 5 color styles (blue, green, orange, red, and yellow – the default). The color styles are shown on our demo by making use of custom body classes. Beyond the WordPress standards of custom menus and threaded comments, Agency Pro also supports custom headers, custom backgrounds, and Google web fonts (specifically EB Garamond and Spinnaker). The selected fonts and weights add about 39 Kb to the site’s page weight, which is a modest amount.
